Program Accreditation Workshop and Training Program

Under the initiatives of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Rector Prof. Dr. Sedat Murat, applications for program accreditation were made to STAR Accreditation Agency (Social, Humanities, and Basic Sciences Accreditation and Rating Association), the only agency with an official certification authority in the field of Business and Management Sciences by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK), from three different faculties. Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Political Sciences applied with programs in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science and Public Administration; Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences applied with programs in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, International Relations, Labor Economics, and Industrial Relations; Biga Faculty of Applied Sciences applied with programs in Finance and Banking, International Trade, and Logistics, making it the first university to apply with a total of 10 programs.

As part of the preparation and evaluation process for accreditation, a two-day "Program Accreditation Workshop and Training Program" totaling 12 hours was conducted by STAR Accreditation Training Committee Chairman and Sakarya University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adem Akbıyık, aimed at academic and administrative staff working in the relevant academic units and programs.

The first day of training, which covered Curriculum Mapping and Learning Assurance System, was attended by 65 academic and administrative staff, including Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Pelin Kanten, Prof. Dr. Okhan Akdur, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Erkul, Deans, Vice Deans, Faculty Secretaries, Department Heads, Deputy Department Heads, and Heads of Academic Units, as well as personnel from the Quality Assurance Office.

The second day of training, focused on the preparation of Program Self-Assessment Reports, was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Pelin Kanten and Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Erkul.

Following the two-year conditional accreditation received by ÇOMÜ for its 11 accredited programs, these efforts have significantly contributed to the institutionalization of quality processes and to the 5-year YÖKAK Institutional Accreditation. In addition to the four programs currently undergoing accreditation, the initiation of accreditation efforts for 10 programs from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and Biga Faculty of Applied Sciences aims to increase the number of accredited programs from 11 to 25 in a short time.
