The Authorized Certification Unit (YBB) of the Continuous Education Center at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) was established within the scope of the RE-YOU (Renewable Youth Energy) Project activities.

From August 23-25, 2023, YBB was audited under the TS EN ISO/IEC 17024/2012 standard for Photovoltaic Power Systems Personnel (Level 5), Wind Power Systems Personnel (Level 5), and Biogas Plant Personnel (Level 5). Following the audit, it was accredited on February 14, 2024, by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK), which is the only national accreditation body in Turkey and a full member of EA (European Accreditation), ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation), and IAF (International Accreditation Forum).

YBB completed the authorization audit of the Vocational Qualification Authority (MYK) and received qualification approval from the MYK Board of Directors. A Qualification Agreement was signed between YBB and MYK, granting YBB the authority to provide examination and certification services in the accredited areas within the energy sector.

In recognition of their contributions to the accreditation and authorization processes, the Quality Awards Subcommittee recommended, and the University Board approved, the "Quality Development Award" for Authorized Certification Unit Manager Lecturer Levent Özçağ and Quality Management Representative Lecturer Remzi Mustafa Gençer. The awards were presented by Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu.

Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Dinçay Köksal, responsible for the Authorized Certification Unit, was also present at the award ceremony held in the rector's office.
